The Borough of Garwood, New Jersey

Garwood, NJ is a 0.7-square-mile borough in Union County with a population of more than 4,000. It is bordered by Westfield on the west and by Cranford on the east. Garwood Public Schools serve students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Public school students for grades 9-12 attend Arthur L. Johnson High School in the neighboring Clark Public School District.
Garwood boasts four parks. The Hartman Park, on the north side of town, has picnic tables, a playground, water fountain, and large basketball court. Georgiana Memorial Park, also on the north side, pays tribute to the late Mayor Georgiana Gurrieri with a gazebo and bench area. Unami Park, on the south side, is a county-owned park with a playground, sports courts and fields, biking trails, and picnicking areas. Garwood Little League Park, also on the south side, offers ball fields, playgrounds, and picnic tables.
The Garwood train station offers limited New Jersey Transit rail service on the Raritan Valley Line. New Jersey Transit provides bus service on two different lines to the Port Authority Terminal in Midtown Manhattan and to Newark. The Newark Liberty International Airport is only a 15-minute drive.
