More than a Partnership

The History of The Mavins Group and Wheaton World Wide Moving| Bekins Van Lines

It was 2010, and Susan Devaney of The Mavins Group, Steve Morgen of All Brunswick Van Lines, an interstate agent for Wheaton World Wide Moving, and the other vendors at a senior services expo event were making the most of a largely empty expo hall. While many older adults in the area had shown interest in learning more about healthcare services, real estate services, downsizing, decluttering, storage, moving, and financial services, there had been a huge snowstorm, leaving many of them stuck in their homes, unable to attend.

Neither Susan nor Steve are people who dwell on the negative; rather, they make opportunities out of what they’re given. So, instead of speaking with seniors about their needs, Susan, Steve and the other vendors made business connections with each other. From that pivot came a partnership between The Mavins Group and Wheaton | Bekins that has lasted more than a decade.

The Mavins Group and Wheaton | Bekins share the outlook that working with older adults is more than a transaction. Susan characterizes her mission as So much more than a move; Wheaton | Bekins knows We move your life. That commonality – plus the hand-in-hand roles real estate agents and household goods movers play – means the two organizations dovetail perfectly to assist older adults when it’s time for a home transition.

Both organizations are members of the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM) and are active in the group, leading conference sessions for members and acting as subject matter experts for NASMM leadership.

Both organizations are supporters of Legacy List with Matt Paxton, an Emmy-nominated Public Television show about older adults and their homes, the hidden treasures, heirlooms and the precious memories attached to those items.
